Register of Legal Entities

Dissolved companies in Slovakia

A list of companies that ceased to exist or entered liquidation, bankruptcy or restructuring in the last 120 days. It is updated daily and is free. For a dissolved company you will see when it was founded, when it ceased to exist and how long it operated. You can narrow the list by region, district, legal form and activity and download it as a spreadsheet for Excel. These are public data from the register, without names of persons and without sole traders.

Data: register of legal entities, Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (Štatistický úrad SR), licence CC BY 4.0. The list contains only legal entities, without the names of individuals and without sole traders.

How to use the list

From a dissolved company ID to a checked partner

A partner from your list has disappeared

Enter its name or company ID. If the company has ceased to exist or is in liquidation or bankruptcy, you will find it here with the date. Before you send another invoice, advance payment or goods, check the state the company is in.

Dissolved and in liquidation are not the same thing

A dissolved company has already disappeared from the register. A company in liquidation still exists, but it is settling its liabilities and will be deleted once the liquidation ends. Use the switch above the filters to choose which list you want to see. The company name is a link to the partner check with its data.

Your own table in Excel

The Download CSV button gives you the current selection, even if it is longer than one page. The file opens in Excel with correct diacritics, and the columns are separated by semicolons.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the list of dissolved companies

Where does the data about dissolved companies come from?

From the register of legal entities, which is kept by the Statistical Office of the SR and published as open data under the CC BY 4.0 licence. We keep our own copy of it, from which we compile the list. A company appears in the list of dissolved companies when the register deletes it, and the date of dissolution is the date stated in the register.

How often is the list updated?

Once a day, at night. The register publishes changes for the previous day, so a company that ceased to exist today usually appears in the list the next morning. Below the list you can see the day the data is current to. If the update fails for more than three days, the page says so instead of showing an old list as current.

What is the difference between a dissolved company and a company in liquidation?

A dissolved company has been deleted from the register and no longer exists as a legal entity. A company in liquidation has been wound up but still exists: the liquidator sells its assets and settles its liabilities, and when finished, the company is deleted. The second list also contains companies in bankruptcy and in restructuring, where a court and a trustee decide about creditors. For each such company you can see which of these states it is in.

What if a company owes me money?

For a company in liquidation, claims are filed with the liquidator, in bankruptcy with the trustee, and the deadlines depend on the type of proceedings. It does not pay to wait. For a company that has already ceased to exist, everything depends on whether it has a legal successor, so consult a lawyer or an accountant. The list tells you the state the company is in, it does not replace advice.

How is the time a company operated calculated?

From the date of formation recorded in the register to the day of dissolution. If the register has no date of formation, we do not state the duration and do not estimate it. The duration is only indicative, the company may not have been active for a long time. For companies in liquidation the duration is not shown because the company has not yet ceased to exist, only the date of formation is shown.

Why are there no sole traders and names of persons?

A sole trader does business as a natural person and the data about them is personal data. Publishing it in a list that anyone can download would not be right, so we do not store it in our copy of the register at all. The list contains only legal entities: limited liability companies, joint-stock companies, cooperatives, associations, foundations and the like. It also contains no names of managing directors, partners, liquidators or trustees. The list and the CSV download are free and without registration, and we do not store who searched for what.

Do you have doubts about a business partner?

Enter their company ID and you will see the register entry, liquidation and bankruptcy, VAT ID validity, published bank accounts and debts to the state and insurers. Free and without registration.
